Condition Monitoring for Animal Feed Manufacturing

This technical report details the condition monitoring process implemented by AVT Reliability® to prevent unplanned downtime in animal feed manufacturing. The monitored asset is critical to the feed production process, specifically above the press motors used in pellet manufacturing. An unexpected failure of this asset could lead to production disruptions and increased maintenance costs. The report outlines how monthly condition monitoring surveys are conducted using the Machine Sentry® platform, where vibration data is collected and analyzed to detect changes in machine condition before failures occur. During a routine survey, an AVT engineer identified abnormal vibration behavior and noise, prompting the site to replace the motor. Post-replacement monitoring confirmed a return to stable operating conditions. The findings emphasize the importance of combining vibration analysis with engineering judgment to avoid costly reactive maintenance and ensure operational reliability.
