This technical report outlines the approach taken by AVT Reliability’s Asset Integrity Division to minimize the risk of vibration-induced fatigue in process piping, specifically focusing on Small-Bore Connections (SBCs) in offshore production systems. The report details a comprehensive vibration survey conducted across the platform, adhering to the Energy Institute’s guidelines for avoiding vibration-induced fatigue failure. Initial inspections identified design weaknesses, followed by vibration measurements using Machine Sentry® sensors. The findings revealed multiple SBC locations exceeding the concern threshold, with one location showing a significant resonance issue. Recommendations for corrective actions included bracing to increase stiffness, weight reduction by removing unnecessary valves, and optimized design adjustments tailored to specific conditions. Subsequent follow-up surveys confirmed the effectiveness of the implemented solutions, documenting significant vibration reductions and areas for further improvement. The report emphasizes the importance of addressing vibration issues to maintain asset integrity and prevent potential safety hazards.
