This technical report outlines the process of vibration analysis conducted on the decanter back drive motor at a whisky distilling and animal feed production facility. The objective was to identify mechanical faults that could lead to production disruptions. Routine trend data indicated excessive vibration and elevated temperatures around the bearings, suggesting developing bearing damage. The analysis confirmed raceway wear and fluting due to electrical current passing through the bearing. AVT Reliability recommended replacing the bearings to prevent potential motor failure. Following the replacement, vibration levels and bearing temperatures returned to acceptable levels. Continued monitoring will ensure the motor's ongoing condition and early detection of any future issues. The report emphasizes the importance of routine condition monitoring in maintaining production efficiency and avoiding costly downtime.
