This study report presents a comparison between the Carnation Ambulatory Monitor (CAM) and a standard 3-lead Holter monitor in terms of their diagnostic efficacy for detecting cardiac arrhythmias. The study involved 50 consecutive adult patients who were monitored using both devices simultaneously over a 24-hour period. The findings indicate that the CAM Patch identified arrhythmias that were missed or misidentified by the Holter monitor in over a third of the patients. Specifically, the CAM demonstrated superior clarity in ECG readings, leading to improved rhythm diagnoses. Patient and clinician assessments revealed that the CAM Patch was preferred for its comfort, ease of use, and discreetness compared to the Holter monitor. The study concludes that the CAM Patch is effective in providing extended-duration cardiac monitoring and may alter patient management decisions based on its findings. The results highlight the potential advantages of using the CAM Patch over traditional Holter monitoring methods.
