Data Backup Strategy for Palacký University

This case study details the implementation of a data backup strategy at Palacký University Olomouc, one of the oldest universities in the Czech Republic. The university faced challenges in securing on-premises student data, virtual server images, and various information systems against risks such as ransomware and accidental deletions. In response to these challenges and the requirements of EU regulations (NIS2), the university deployed the Barracuda Backup appliance alongside Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup and Barracuda CloudGen Firewall. The case study outlines how these solutions improved the university's resilience against cyber threats while ensuring compliance with regulatory mandates. The Barracuda Backup appliance was noted for its ease of deployment and management, providing a centralized solution for both primary and backup data. The university's IT infrastructure team expressed satisfaction with the backup solutions, highlighting their effectiveness in restoring data and maintaining security. The case study concludes with insights into ongoing projects aimed at enhancing the university's cyber resilience.
