Monitoring of Production Activities with Industry 4.0

This case study outlines the implementation of an Industry 4.0 solution by beanTech for STM S.r.l, a company specializing in hot stamping, steel recasting, and extrusion. The objective was to establish a bidirectional interconnection between STM's machinery and its factory information system to facilitate real-time monitoring of production activities. The solution involved the installation of a Beckhoff IoT Gateway as an Edge Server, enabling multi-protocol communication with existing systems. The project included the development of a graphical web dashboard for machine monitoring and compliance with the National Industry 4.0 Plan. Key features of the platform include real-time production control, data acquisition from machines, and a detailed history of machine data. The advantages of this implementation include improved maintenance through remote telecare services, an end-to-end solution for data exchange, and a fully integrated data collection platform. The successful execution of this project has led to plans for extending the solution to new machines and robots.
