Summary
This case study details the implementation of a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solution for Epta, a multinational group specializing in commercial refrigeration systems. The initiative was prompted by the challenges posed by the 2020 lockdown and a prior cyber-attack, which necessitated a transformation in the management of R&D software, specifically CAD and PLM systems. The objective was to enhance performance, ensure centralized maintenance, and improve scalability. Epta required the virtualization of 116 CAD workstations to facilitate remote access and efficient management across its operations in Italy, France, and the United Kingdom. The solution proposed by beanTech involved a hyperconverged infrastructure utilizing Dell EMC technologies, enabling high-performance graphics and centralized data management. The implementation included preventive maintenance, licensing management, and training for Epta's personnel. The project achieved significant improvements in operational efficiency, allowing for agile work policies and the potential for expansion into other regions.
