This document is a research report detailing the impact of the Total Laboratory Automation (TLA) DxA 5000 system on the efficiency of pre-analytical workflows in a clinical laboratory setting. The study was conducted at the Hospital Universitario de Poniente in Almeria, Spain, from October 2019 to November 2022. It aimed to compare turnaround times (TATs) before and after the installation of the DxA 5000 system. Data collection involved direct observations, time studies, and literature reviews. Results indicated a significant reduction in manual handling of samples by 77%, and TAT for clinical chemistry immunoassay (CCIA) improved from 1 hour 31 minutes to 19 minutes, marking a 78.53% performance enhancement. Additionally, the overall time from sample load to final test result was reduced by approximately 1.5 hours. The findings suggest that the TLA DxA 5000 system enhances laboratory safety and efficiency, ultimately supporting improved hospital care by accelerating the delivery of clinical results.
