This case study presents the implementation of the Beckman Coulter DxC 500i Clinical Analyzer at Hořice Hospital, a smaller clinical lab in the Czech Republic. The study aims to evaluate the impact of integrating chemistry and immunoassay testing into a single platform on laboratory efficiency and turnaround times. The hospital faced challenges such as increasing sample volumes and the need for improved accuracy and reduced turnaround time. The study details a comparison between the standalone AU480 Chemistry Analyzer and Access 2 Immunoassay System versus the integrated DxC 500i system. Results showed a 40% reduction in turnaround time for test results, with the DxC 500i delivering results 53 minutes faster than the previous systems. Additionally, the integrated system reduced manual workload and associated errors, while also minimizing costs and environmental impact related to consumables. The findings suggest that the DxC 500i enhances laboratory operations and improves patient care by providing quicker results.
