This case study details the fire damage restoration process at John Kuester Manor, a senior residential apartment building in Wauconda, Illinois, managed by the Lake County Housing Authority (LCHA). Following an accidental rooftop fire during a routine HVAC installation, the local fire departments responded promptly to ensure resident safety, although 25 seniors were displaced due to the damage. BELFOR Chicago was contacted for restoration services and met with LCHA's Director of Public Housing the day after the incident. The BELFOR team began work immediately, focusing on mitigating the damage and restoring the property to its pre-loss condition. Within three weeks, 23 of the 25 units were fully restored, allowing residents to return home. The LCHA team and insurance adjuster praised BELFOR's performance, communication, and organizational skills, leading to BELFOR being designated as LCHA's preferred restoration vendor for future projects.
