This case study details the digital transformation undertaken by COPEL Distribuição S.A. in the design of electrical substations. The company, which has been distributing power in Paraná, Brazil, since 1954, aimed to establish a complete Building Information Modeling (BIM) environment to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of its design processes. By adopting Bentley applications, COPEL integrated civil, electro-mechanical, and electrical engineering processes, which significantly reduced development time and costs. The transition to a 3D design environment has led to a 50% reduction in development time for mechanical elements and a 30% reduction for electrical elements, translating to an estimated annual savings of USD 630,000. The study emphasizes the importance of integrating design processes and automating deliverables to improve project execution and sustainability. COPEL's approach not only streamlines asset management but also enhances collaboration among project teams through a unified digital platform.
