This case study details the implementation of a comprehensive transport modeling solution by Réseau de transport de la Capitale (RTC) in Québec City, focusing on the development of a 100% electric tramway as part of a structured public transport network. The study outlines how RTC, in collaboration with the City of Québec and the government of Québec, aims to enhance mobility for its citizens by optimizing travel flow and reducing car dependency. To achieve these objectives, RTC utilized Bentley OpenPaths to create a multimodal transport model that integrates traffic, transit, biking, and pedestrian data. The model facilitates accurate simulations of various transport scenarios and supports demand forecasting. The case study emphasizes the importance of using a transparent and flexible modeling platform to improve collaboration among stakeholders and to provide valuable insights for transport infrastructure decisions. Ultimately, the project aims to position Québec City as a leader in sustainable public transport solutions.
