This article presents a technical report on an automated approach aimed at speeding up the concept creation and validation process through flow optimization. The study, conducted as part of an MSc. thesis project, focuses on the Volvo Car Corporation's objective to reduce vehicle production time to 20 months by 2020. It details the automation of a CFD analysis for an engine cover using modeFRONTIER and mesh-morphing methodology in ANSA. The report outlines the use of a baseline design for an existing engine cover concept and describes the advantages of mesh-morphing, which allows for repositioning mesh nodes without altering the CAD model. The workflow involves nine input parameters and utilizes the MOGA-II optimization algorithm. The article includes visual representations of the workflow, air velocity fields around the engine cover, and results from the optimization process, highlighting the improvements in velocity at specified probe locations.
