This technical report presents the implementation of an automated process for updating CATIA files aimed at optimizing automotive component designs at BMW. The report outlines the challenges faced by simulation engineers in aligning design parameters between CAD and simulation models, particularly in the context of crash simulations. It details the CAPOS (Catia Parameter Optimization in the Simulation) process, which facilitates the automatic transfer of parameters from CAD files to simulation models, allowing for efficient design updates and optimizations. The report describes the necessary communication between ANSA and CATIA, the execution of the CAPOS process using the SPDRM software, and the successful application of this process to optimize a rear door's side impact beam. The findings indicate a significant improvement in the success rate of design optimizations, demonstrating the effectiveness of the automated workflow in enhancing the design process within the BMW environment.
