Automation of CAE Processes for Automotive Filters

This technical report outlines the automation of ABAQUS model setup and standardization of CFD reports for StarCCM+ at Mann+Hummel. The project aimed to enhance the efficiency of structural analysis and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) processes through the development of dedicated toolbars in ANSA and META. The report details the challenges faced, including the need for improved execution speed for customized ANSA toolbars and the time-consuming tasks associated with CFD post-processing. The approach involved creating specific toolbars that integrated essential pre-and post-processing capabilities, such as surface and volume mesh generation and report creation for StarCCM+. The results indicate a significant reduction in manual work, with model generation time decreased by over 30%. The deployment of these new functions has streamlined workflows for Mann+Hummel's CAE engineers, allowing them to focus on result interpretation and engineering innovation.
