This technical paper presents a benchmark study focused on the middle meshing process of a headlight housing part, specifically within the context of BMW's injection moulding operations. The study addresses the challenges associated with middle meshing, including high costs, multiple design updates, and the variability in results based on individual user input. It outlines the functionalities provided by ANSA software, which aim to streamline the meshing process, reduce time, and enhance quality. The benchmark compares traditional meshing methodologies with ANSA's tools, such as the Middle Mesh generator, Align Constraints, and Inspect functionalities. Results indicate a significant reduction in meshing time and improved quality when utilizing ANSA's proposed workflow. The findings suggest that these tools not only facilitate a more efficient meshing process but also ensure that the quality of the output is less dependent on user expertise, thereby promoting consistency across different design versions.
