BIW Modelling Automation Tool Overview

This document is a technical report detailing the BIW Modelling Automation Tool developed for Hyundai Motor India Engineering by BETA CAE Systems. The report outlines the challenges faced in traditional Body-In-White (BIW) component modelling, which includes tedious manual tasks such as grouping parts, extracting middle surfaces, and generating quality meshes. The automation tool aims to streamline these processes by employing robust algorithms to automate mesh treatment assignments based on part types. It describes the approach of identifying common standard parts, performing semi-automatic geometry clean-up, and executing batch meshing on designated parts. The report also highlights the benefits of the tool, including a seamless process for CAD data integration, reduced training time for new engineers, and the ability to execute tasks in both GUI and no-GUI modes. Overall, the implementation of this automation tool has led to significant time savings in modelling activities.
