This technical report outlines the collaborative effort between the Laboratory of Machine Elements and Machine Design at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and BETA CAE Systems to develop a high protection mask during the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative aimed to address the shortage of protective gear for medical personnel, specifically for those treating COVID-19 patients in intensive care units. The design process involved creating a reusable, personalized mask that minimizes pressure on the face while ensuring effective sealing. The mask features adjustable Velcro straps and a skin-friendly filter material. The development utilized advanced 3D printing technology and CAD systems, enabling the creation of a template mask that adapts to individual face shapes through a streamlined process involving 3D scanning and automated morphing algorithms. The report details the design adaptation, production process, and the potential for future applications of the mask beyond the pandemic, highlighting the innovative use of modern software tools and 3D printing in product development.
