This technical report outlines the development of an automated procedure designed to expedite Head Impact testing for the Upper Roof area of vehicles, adhering to the FMVSS201U protocol. The report details the creation of a script that calculates potential Target Points on the Upper Roof and conducts Robustness Analysis for each identified Target. A significant challenge addressed in this project was the identification of areas on the Upper Roof that allow for the maximum vertical angle. To overcome this, an advanced algorithm was developed that positions the Impactor at the desired vertical angle while minimizing contact distance. This positioning is applied to all identified Target Points, generating corresponding keyword files. The results indicate that the previously uncertain Target Points are now automatically identified, and the ability to position the Headform in challenging locations has reduced the time required for Interior Head Impact Analysis by up to 100 times. The report emphasizes the efficiency and user-friendliness of the FMVSS201U tool developed in collaboration with OEMs.
