This white paper outlines the Virtual Clamping Process, a simulation-based approach designed to replace the traditional physical clamping process used by OEMs for quality measurement of produced parts. The physical clamping process is complex and requires significant expertise, expensive measuring machines, and time-consuming procedures. The Virtual Clamping tool leverages BETA CAE Systems' software to perform simulations that allow for the clamping process to be executed virtually. The paper details how the stamped part is scanned in a free state and how the clamping is simulated using CAD data. It describes three simulation methods that affect the accuracy and speed of results, including 'All together', 'All together with accuracy loop', and 'One by one'. The outcome of the process includes an STL file, a configuration file, and a presentation that highlights the differences between the scanned model and the CAD data. The approach aims to reduce costs, increase the number of processed parts, and streamline the testing of multiple clamping scenarios.
