This case study outlines the challenges faced by Versatron Smart Networks SRL regarding the overloading memory capacity of devices using non-lightweight communication protocols. The document details the need for a reliable and robust data transport solution for telemetry and over-the-air communications between a cloud server and resource-constrained devices within smart mesh networks. To address these challenges, the implementation of an MQTT server and a customized lightweight protocol was proposed, which aligned with the client's design goals. Additionally, a simulator was provided to enhance understanding of MQTT technology. The case study also discusses the customization of user interfaces and AI/ML algorithms to better fit the overall framework. The benefits of this implementation included the ability for the client to focus on product design features and begin testing from day one, thanks to the setup of the MQTT server. Personalized assistance from Bevywise representatives was highlighted as a key factor in achieving the project's goals.
