State of Accounts Receivable Automation Survey Insights

This report presents the findings of a survey on accounts receivable (AR) automation trends and challenges projected for 2025. Commissioned by BillingPlatform, the survey gathered insights from over 100 senior finance executives across nine industries. The results indicate a significant shift towards AR automation as a strategic priority, with nearly 80% of respondents from companies generating $50 million or more in annual revenue acknowledging its importance. Despite this focus, the survey reveals that only 3% of companies have fully automated their AR processes, with many still relying on manual workflows. Key challenges identified include budget constraints and IT backlogs. The report also highlights that poor cash flow and high Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) are major concerns for finance leaders, with 78% citing these issues as consequences of inefficient AR processes. Additionally, interest in AI applications for AR is increasing, although meaningful implementation remains low. The findings underscore the urgent need for integrated automation across the AR lifecycle.
