Kinepolis Case Study on Collections Management

This case study examines Kinepolis, the largest cinema chain in Belgium, and its efforts to improve collections management through the implementation of Billtrust's automated collections solutions. The initial challenge faced by Kinepolis was a decentralized collections process that involved sales departments reaching out to customers regarding outstanding invoices, leading to inefficiencies and a lack of coordination with the accounting department. To address this, Kinepolis partnered with Billtrust to centralize collections management, allowing for streamlined operations across all branches. The results of this partnership included a significant reduction in Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) from 41 to 28 days, equating to invoices being paid 13 days faster on average, and a decrease in overdue invoices from 60% to 40%. Additionally, the accounting team benefited from improved communication with commercial colleagues through regular consultations and reporting, enhancing overall operational efficiency.
