This technical report evaluates the performance of the VITEK® MS PRIME system for species-level identification of pharmaceutical strains in industrial quality control. Conducted by Labor LS SE & Co. KG, the study comprises two phases. Phase I assesses the accuracy and reliability of the VITEK® MS PRIME system using 400 pharmaceutical strains, achieving an overall identification rate of 73.33% across all strains. Phase II compares the VITEK® MS PRIME with the MicroSEQ™ ID system for mold identification, highlighting the advantages of MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry in routine workflows. The results demonstrate that VITEK® MS PRIME not only meets regulatory requirements for microbial identification but also outperforms traditional sequencing methods in accuracy and efficiency. The findings underscore the importance of species-level identification in pharmaceutical quality control, particularly in light of recent regulatory updates that emphasize the need for precise microbial identification to ensure product safety and compliance.
