The need for an enterprise-wide password manager arose due to the distributed nature of the company and the significant amount of data it holds. Previously using LastPass, NAES faced security concerns following a breach, prompting a search for a more reliable solution. The company prioritized a cloud-based password vault with strong integration capabilities, customer support, and data breach reporting. Bitwarden was selected for its zero-knowledge architecture, AES 256 encryption, and positive feedback from users.
