Determining the ROI of SLII at Delta Dental

This technical report outlines the implementation and evaluation of the SLII® leadership development program at Delta Dental of California. The organization aimed to enhance leadership skills among its leaders to align with its corporate culture and values. The report details the selection process of SLII® as a foundational program, emphasizing the importance of buy-in from senior leadership and the role of communication teams in promoting the initiative. The rollout of the program was adapted to virtual delivery due to COVID-19, with a focus on ensuring effective training through a combination of face-to-face and online sessions. Measurement of the program's effectiveness was conducted using a six-level evaluation strategy, which included participant engagement, learning outcomes, application of skills, and overall business impact. Results indicated significant improvements in leadership behaviors and team performance, with a reported ROI of 153%. The report concludes with plans for ongoing executive coaching to further reinforce the skills acquired through the SLII® program.
