This technical report presents a novel approach to bridging Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) between Hyperledger Fabric and Ethereum-based permissioned blockchains. The authors leverage an asset transfer protocol known as SATP to define a middleware solution that facilitates interoperability between these blockchain platforms. The report outlines the importance of bridging CBDCs, emphasizing the need for secure and efficient asset transfer mechanisms in the context of emerging digital currencies. The proposed solution includes a shared asset definition and a mapping system for identity management, which are critical for ensuring reliable transactions across different blockchain environments. The implementation of this design is demonstrated using Hyperledger Cacti, and a preliminary performance evaluation indicates that the latency of the solution is primarily influenced by the underlying ledgers rather than the bridging components. The report also discusses the implications of this work for future CBDC applications and the evolving landscape of blockchain interoperability.
