This original research article presents a retrospective analysis of laryngeal involvement in patients with relapsing polychondritis (RP), focusing on clinical and CT findings among 173 patients. The study aims to characterize the clinical features and imaging patterns associated with laryngeal involvement, hypothesizing that specific CT patterns correlate with clinical manifestations. The results indicate that laryngeal involvement is present in 41.1% of patients, with significant associations identified with younger age at disease onset and longer disease duration. The predominant CT findings include cricoid erosion and broadening, highlighting the necessity for vigilant clinical monitoring of RP patients, particularly those with identified risk factors. The article emphasizes the importance of routine CT imaging in RP patients, as a notable percentage of asymptomatic patients exhibit airway damage. The findings suggest that regular laryngeal evaluations may facilitate earlier detection and targeted management of laryngeal pathology in this patient population.
