This case study outlines Babcock International Group's transformation of its global cash management system, which was completed in early 2023. The objective was to reduce complexity, enhance visibility over global balances, and reposition treasury within the organization. The company faced challenges due to its fragmented banking relationships and outdated cash management practices. A global banking RFP led to a partnership with BNP Paribas, which provided a cost-effective solution aligned with Babcock's operations. The implementation involved migrating 61 subsidiaries and over 160 accounts into a new multicurrency notional pool covering 14 currencies. This restructuring improved cash visibility, minimized borrowing costs, and facilitated more informed financial decisions. The project also required a cultural shift within the organization, emphasizing the importance of communication and education regarding the new cash management practices. Overall, the transformation has positioned treasury as a strategic partner in supporting Babcock's growth and operational efficiency.
