This document is a case study that investigates the processing of clay-rich ore at the Telfer mine in Australia, focusing on the impact of Pionera F-100 on copper and gold recovery during flotation processes. The Telfer mine operates with an annual processing capacity of 21 million tons, primarily treating chalcopyrite and chalcocite ores. The presence of clay minerals complicates flotation operations by causing excessive froth and slime coatings, which reduce recovery rates and concentrate grades. Laboratory trials indicated that Pionera F-100 effectively mitigates these negative effects, leading to improved flotation outcomes. A plant trial was conducted over three months, where Pionera F-100 was added at specific dosage rates. Results showed a 5% increase in gold recovery in the bulk concentrate, demonstrating the product's capability to enhance flotation efficiency by preventing clay coating on ore particles. The findings suggest that Pionera F-100 provides significant operational benefits and a favorable return on investment for the Telfer operation.
