Comparison of Urinary and Sexual Outcomes in Patients Treated with Rezūm Therapy

This technical report presents a retrospective review of patients with moderate-to-severe lower urinary tract symptoms treated with Rezūm therapy for benign prostatic obstruction (BPO) across eight Italian institutions from September 2019 to February 2022. A total of 426 patients were included, divided into two groups based on their eligibility for a 5-year randomized controlled trial (RCT). Group A consisted of 232 patients meeting the RCT criteria, while Group B included 194 patients with at least one exclusion criterion. The study aimed to compare functional and sexual outcomes, as well as the safety profile of the Rezūm procedure between these two groups. Results indicated significant improvements in urinary and sexual function outcomes, with no intraoperative adverse events reported. Complication rates were similar between both groups, and the median prostate volume decreased significantly. The study concludes that Rezūm therapy is effective and has a favorable safety profile, regardless of patient characteristics.
