Infection Risk Comparison of IPP Devices

This technical report presents an analysis conducted in 2025 utilizing data from the Premier PINC AI™ Healthcare Database, focusing on patients who received inflatable penile prostheses (IPPs), specifically AMS 700™ and Coloplast Titan®. The study involved 3,636 AMS 700 patients and 2,830 Titan patients, examining twelve known risk factors for infection post-IPP procedure. The findings indicate that AMS 700 patients experienced a 37.9% lower infection rate at 180 days post-procedure compared to Titan patients, with rates of 1.8% and 2.9%, respectively. Additionally, a higher percentage of AMS 700 patients had risk factors associated with infectious complications. The report suggests that the choice of IPP device and patient characteristics may influence post-procedure infection rates. The analysis underscores the importance of device selection in minimizing infection risks for patients undergoing treatment for erectile dysfunction.
