This technical report characterizes the real-world application of remote programming for insertable cardiac monitors (ICMs) during their initial commercialization in Europe. The study aims to assess the impact of remote reprogramming on the transmission burden associated with ICMs. Data was collected from the LATITUDE Clarity Data Management System across 23 European centers, involving 697 patients with a mean age of 64 years. The findings indicate that the transmission volume during follow-up was manageable and closely linked to the patients' clinical profiles. Notably, the transmission burden could be reduced by approximately 31% by adopting an alert-based strategy, as recommended by recent remote monitoring guidelines. Additionally, remote reprogramming was found to decrease the transmission review workload by 57%, with its current use in 39% of cases suggesting potential for broader adoption. Overall, the remote reprogramming feature could enhance workflow efficiency and reduce the need for in-office visits, easing resource demands for clinics and patients.
