CAR T Cell Therapy Referral Patterns in LBCL Patients

This technical report presents an analysis of referral patterns for CAR T cell therapy among patients with relapsed or refractory large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL) in the United States. The study utilizes real-world claims data to assess the barriers to accessing CAR T cell therapy, highlighting that only 15% of patients with second-line or later LBCL received this treatment. Key findings indicate that geographic proximity to CAR T sites significantly influences referral rates, with a median distance of 24 miles for non-referred patients compared to 17 miles for referred patients. The report also details demographic differences in referral patterns, noting that younger, male, and commercially insured patients were more likely to be referred. Additionally, the analysis shows that CAR T cell therapy-treated patients experienced longer time to next treatment compared to those receiving non-CAR T therapies. The findings emphasize the need for improved access to CAR T therapy through better referral pathways and increased site availability.
