This document is a guide detailing Denver Water's approach to community engagement as part of its 15-year Lead Reduction Program. The utility faced challenges in educating residents about lead exposure and safe water practices. To address these challenges, Denver Water implemented Broadnet’s Access Live, enabling live virtual community meetings that connect residents via landlines, mobile phones, and online video streams. Since 2020, the utility has hosted 41 virtual meetings, including 39 Spanish-language simulcasts, and placed nearly 400,000 calls to residents. The guide outlines how Denver Water established a digital engagement framework that incorporates direct outreach, bilingual broadcasts, moderated Q&A, and live polling, transforming complex infrastructure updates into accessible conversations. The events have featured various experts addressing resident questions on water quality and construction impacts, with significant participation and feedback mechanisms in place to enhance community trust and education. This innovative approach has allowed Denver Water to effectively reach and engage thousands of households across the city.
