This case study discusses the managed bug bounty program implemented by Barracuda, highlighting the collaboration with Bugcrowd to enhance their security measures. Barracuda, recognized for one of the longest-standing bug bounty programs since 2010, experienced growing engagement from the security researcher community. In response to an influx of bug reports, they partnered with Bugcrowd to triage and validate submissions efficiently. The managed service provided by Bugcrowd allows Barracuda's security team to focus their resources on critical tasks while ensuring that only actionable vulnerabilities reach them. The study outlines the operational benefits, such as streamlined communication and effective payment management through the Crowdcontrol platform. Notably, since moving to Bugcrowd in 2014, the program has seen significant engagement, receiving over 650 submissions from researchers across 44 countries. The integration of Crowdcontrol with Barracuda's existing workflows, including Jira, has further facilitated the management of bug submissions and enhanced their overall security posture.
