This case study details the forecasting challenges faced by Honeywell Safety Products (HSP), a provider of Personal Protective Equipment. The document outlines the issues stemming from inconsistent demand patterns, SKU proliferation, and the limitations of existing forecasting systems. HSP's team, led by John Romano, recognized the need for an overhaul in their forecasting process, which relied on outdated ERP software. The study describes the evaluation and subsequent implementation of Forecast Pro TRAC, which was chosen for its functionality and cost-effectiveness. Results from the trial phase indicated that Forecast Pro forecasts were significantly higher than those generated by the previous system. Following the implementation, the case study presents metrics showing improvements in forecast accuracy, with weighted MAPE decreasing over three quarters and a year-over-year forecast accuracy improvement of 13%. Additionally, customer delivery and inventory turns also saw notable enhancements, demonstrating the effectiveness of the new forecasting approach.
