This case study outlines the management of national resources to combat COVID-19 through a cloud-based solution. It describes the ICU-M project, which provides a real-time data acquisition and analysis environment focused on intensive care unit (ICU) capacities and aggregated case numbers. The project enables real-time information and predictions regarding ICU availability at various organizational levels, as well as the expected availability based on analytical forecasts. It also facilitates the management of mass transportation for COVID patients to alleviate bottlenecks. The solution includes data visualization tools such as charts and maps to support quick operational decisions. The case study highlights the coverage of 1298 hospitals and emphasizes the provision of real-time information on available COVID-19 resources across all organizational levels. It discusses challenges faced during the first wave of the pandemic, including limited access to resources and ineffective communication among medical personnel, which contributed to high mortality rates.
