This case study details the implementation of the MyChart patient portal at William Osler Health System, a prominent community healthcare provider in Canada. The objective was to enhance patient engagement by providing real-time access to lab, pathology, diagnostic imaging, and cardiology data while minimizing the financial and technological impact on existing electronic health record (EHR) systems. The solution involved utilizing the Calian® Corolar™ platform, which offered modern web services and API capabilities. Collaboration with Osler's IT team, privacy office, and other stakeholders was essential for integrating data from various clinical systems. The integration leveraged the hospital's existing BizTalk integration engine, allowing for seamless access to critical patient data. The case study highlights the successful launch of the portal within 18 months, with over 18,700 patients registered shortly after its introduction, demonstrating the significant role of technology in improving patient experience and care outcomes.
