This case study outlines the implementation of a Facilities Equipment Asset Management (FEAM) program by Quartz Consulting Group in collaboration with Camcode for one of the largest community college systems in the U.S. The initiative aimed to enhance asset visibility and improve data access, transitioning from reactive to preventive and predictive maintenance. The program involved tagging 6,664 assets across 384 buildings, linking 988 warranty documents and 1,782 operation and maintenance manuals to digital records. The selected tagging solution, Camcode’s Metalphoto® anodized aluminum QR code asset tags, was chosen for its durability and interoperability with existing systems. The project was completed four months ahead of schedule and under budget, resulting in a centralized database of equipment and improved work order accuracy. Key lessons learned included the importance of early access and coordination, standardized tag placement, and the need for adaptable asset definitions as systems evolve.
