This case study details the engagement of a large franchisee of a pizza restaurant chain with Carrier Abound to enhance energy efficiency across its network of approximately 300 Quick-Service Restaurants in California and Utah. The franchisee aimed to achieve over 15% energy savings within a five-year period, leading to the implementation of Carrier Abound’s Connected Restaurant Program. This program utilized the Abound Insights platform to analyze data from over 220 restaurants, focusing on energy consumption, equipment performance, and compliance with food safety standards. The program identified operational issues and opportunities for energy conservation, resulting in significant energy savings of over 21 million kWh and a reduction of more than 15,000 tons of CO2 emissions. The continuous monitoring of HVAC and refrigeration equipment ensured improved operational efficiency and compliance. The initiative was recognized with the 2018 Environmental Leader Top Project of the Year Award, showcasing the franchisee's commitment to sustainability and operational excellence.
