This case study details the implementation of the Check Point Infinity Platform by MidCoast Council, a government entity in New South Wales, Australia, serving approximately 95,000 residents. The Council faced challenges in unifying its IT and security infrastructure after a merger of three city councils. The need for immediate security of critical infrastructure led to the selection of the Check Point Infinity architecture, which allows for flexible and scalable security management. The IT network connects 80 sites, and the Infinity Platform provides a holistic overview of sites and services while integrating with existing tools. The deployment included Check Point Quantum Security Gateways for network edge security and Check Point Harmony Endpoint for endpoint protection. The implementation was completed without downtime, enabling the Council to adapt its security measures as needed. The Infinity architecture has improved security performance and management capabilities, allowing the Council to evolve its security maturity in line with the Australian Cyber Security Centre’s Essential Eight framework.
