This case study details the modernization program undertaken by a Tier 1 carrier in Europe, which involved collaboration with Ciena Services to design and implement a more adaptable network. The primary objective was to address the challenges posed by the existing legacy infrastructure, which was costly to manage and difficult to scale. The study outlines how the legacy systems resulted in excessive operational costs and significant delays in bringing new services to market. Through the initial phases of Initiation and Discovery, data analytics tools were utilized to assess the current network environment, leading to the development of a business case for migration. The findings facilitated the design and deployment of an international network capable of on-demand scalability, ultimately reducing operational expenses and expediting service delivery. The case study emphasizes the importance of modernizing network infrastructure to meet increasing traffic demands and improve overall efficiency.
