End-to-End Migration Strategy for Health Plan

This case study outlines a strategic modernization initiative undertaken by a leading Blues organization to migrate from an on-premise Greenplum Data Warehouse to a cloud-native platform utilizing Snowflake. The organization faced several challenges, including escalating costs, operational inefficiencies, scalability constraints, and governance gaps. To address these issues, Citius Healthcare Consulting conducted a comprehensive three-month Greenplum Migration Assessment, which included evaluating the existing architecture, defining a migration roadmap, and recommending automation tools to optimize the migration process. The consulting approach involved pre-engagement sessions to align on business priorities, followed by a structured assessment across three tracks focusing on gap analysis, discovery of additional capabilities, and prototyping of AI-driven accelerators. The resulting migration framework aimed to ensure scalability, governance, and cost efficiency while minimizing disruption. Key outcomes included the rationalization of thousands of database objects and ETL jobs, as well as the development of a phased migration strategy for 18 business units, ultimately enhancing analytics and reporting capabilities.
