This report examines the integration of advice services within primary care settings, particularly focusing on the role of General Practitioners (GPs) in addressing non-clinical issues that patients present during consultations. It outlines the increasing pressure on GPs and the necessity of alleviating burdens to maintain quality patient care. The research, conducted in collaboration with the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), highlights that GPs in England and Wales estimate that non-clinical issues consume approximately 19% of their consultation time. The findings suggest that co-locating outreach advice within GP surgeries can enhance patient health and wellbeing, reduce non-clinical demands on GPs, and improve overall patient care. The report also details the positive perceptions of GPs regarding the effects of advice services on patient outcomes and their own efficiency. It emphasizes the importance of strong working relationships between health providers and advice services to ensure effective delivery and accessibility of support for patients.
