This case study details the implementation of the Epic electronic patient record (EPR) system training for Health and Social Care Northern Ireland (HSCNI), which serves a population of approximately 1.9 million. HSCNI recognized the need for a modern learning platform to train around 70,000 staff across 500 job roles. The legacy systems were inadequate for the scale of training required, prompting the adoption of Civica Learning, a centralized platform that supports secure training delivery and reporting. The Civica platform was rolled out within budget in nine months, allowing for automated content delivery and integration with existing systems. Managers can oversee course enrollment and track completion rates through dashboards, enhancing training management. The project has successfully enabled three hospital trusts to go live with the EPR system, with plans for the remaining trusts to follow. The case study illustrates the effectiveness of the Civica Learning management system in facilitating compliant training for the Epic EPR system.
