Integration of EPR and Document Management at NHS Trust

This case study outlines the integration of an Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system and Civica Document Management at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. The initiative aimed to replace over 40 siloed systems with a single login for patient records, thereby enhancing clinician efficiency and improving patient care. The Apollo transformation programme, launched in October 2023, involved implementing an EPR system powered by Epic, integrated with Civica's cloud-enabled document management system. This integration allows for a comprehensive view of patient data, streamlining access and management of patient records across multiple sites. The project also emphasizes compliance with NHS data management and security regulations, ensuring that sensitive information is protected. With the new system, clinicians can access patient information more quickly, reducing waiting times and improving overall healthcare delivery. The case study highlights the collaborative effort between Civica and NHS partners to achieve these outcomes, including the migration of 120 million documents and the decommissioning of legacy systems.
