This case study outlines the implementation of ArborSafe and LinkSafe at Deakin University to enhance risk and compliance management related to tree assets and contractor oversight. With a student population of 60,000 and over 3,500 contractors, the university recognized the need for robust systems to ensure safety and regulatory compliance. ArborSafe has been utilized for managing tree assets, allowing for proactive identification and management of high-risk trees, while also providing business reporting tools to meet occupational health and safety obligations. LinkSafe was introduced to streamline contractor management, significantly increasing the number of prequalified contractors from 520 to 1,270. The integration of both systems has led to improved safety oversight, operational efficiency, and accountability, as all contractor actions and tree management activities are tracked in real-time. The collaboration between ArborSafe and LinkSafe has established a new benchmark for risk management in higher education, resulting in enhanced safety measures and compliance rates across the university's campuses.
