This case study documents the collaboration between South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Claroty to enhance the cybersecurity of medical devices within the healthcare facilities. The trust, which serves over 1.5 million patients, recognized the increasing need for robust cybersecurity measures due to the growing use of cyber-physical systems and Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) devices. The objectives included strengthening the security of medical devices against cyber threats, extending IT security monitoring, and fulfilling compliance requirements. The South Tees team faced challenges such as a lack of centralized inventory for connected devices, limited visibility into device behaviors, and resource constraints. To address these issues, they implemented the Claroty xDome platform, which provided comprehensive security solutions including vulnerability management, network protection, and operational intelligence. As a result, South Tees improved their security posture, gained better visibility over their medical device inventory, and demonstrated the return on investment for their cybersecurity initiatives.
