This case study outlines the initiatives taken by Fort Vermilion School Division to enhance vocational training through the establishment of the Building Futures Collegiate. The objective of this initiative was to connect students with viable career pathways by offering simulation-based training programs. The school division utilized a government grant to invest in simulation technology, specifically CM Labs’ solutions, to provide realistic training for heavy equipment operation. The Building Futures Collegiate serves 4,000 students and offers 11 career streams, enabling students to transition directly into post-secondary education and local employment. The program has shown success in accelerating training, allowing students to gain job-ready skills more quickly.
